Summer Run is a 10 kilometre running event in the Hunter Region of NSW, Australia. The event will feature an iconic venues in the Hunter, namely Morpeth. The event is a flat and fast 10 kilometre courses staged over four laps . The event will be held early to beat the heat and will feature individual prizes and a great atmosphere.

The Maitand Triathlon started in 1994 and was staged until 2011 at Morpeth in NSW. The event has played host to some very famous triathletes with Peter Robertson, Graig Alexander and Brendan Sexton, all hitting the course in its 18 year history. The event has played host to State Championships and also been local and regional competitions between local clubs, Maitland, Tomoree, Newcastle and Singelton.

In 2018 the event will again return and will be staged as a multi- event Triathlon consisting of a Sprint (750 metre swim/20 kilometre cycle /fie kilometre run), Standard (Olympic) format of 1500 metre swim, 40 kilometre cycle and 10 kilometre run an Mid Distance (2000 metre swim, 60 kilometre Cycle and 15 kilometre run).

Whilst the boutiques and antique stores are all worth a visit, other places worth mentioning include the famous Morpeth Sourdough bakery. This bread, baked by the Arnott family since 1848, is available at different locations in Sydney, including Harris Farm Markets, but in Morpeth you will find the original source. The bakery is housed in the Arnotts family home and upstairs is the official Morpeth Sourdough restaurant, Arnotts Bakehouse.  

The history of Morpeth is easily discovered in the Morpeth Heritage Walk which endeavours to reveal how Morpeth has changed throughout the years.

Morpeth, founded in 1821 is Australia’s second oldest river port. It is an historic village, located on the banks of the Hunter River, in the Hunter Valley, NSW, 10 minutes from Maitland, 40 minutes from Wine Country & Port Stephens blue water wonderland, and an hour and a half from Sydney.
